For the transfer of ashes abroad, as for the transport from another country to Spain, it is necessary to have various documents:
- National and international death certificate.
- Cremation certificate
- Copy of the passport and/or identity card of the deceased from the place of destination ( depending on the case).
- Certificate of urn sealing.
Additionally, the country of destination may require you to fill out an application form and meet specific requirements, so be sure to check this information before travelling. In some countries it is obligatory to specify the place of destination of the ashes, and in others it is prohibited for the ashes to remain in the custody of the family. In Italy, for example, ashes cannot be kept at home and proof of where they are to be laid to rest must be provided.
